The No. 2 Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its quest for a sixth national championship on Thursday when the Terriers face No. 3 Denver in the first of two NCAA semifinals at the 2024 Men's Frozen Four.Puck drop in St. Paul is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. local time.   • The Terriers enter their 24th Frozen Fourwith an all-time record of 47-39-0 (.547) in 39NCAA tournament appearances.
  • The 47wins represent the fifth-highest total in tournament history.
  • The only programs with more victories are Minnesota (62), Michigan (58), North Dakota (53) and Boston College (51).
  • This is the Terriers' second straight Frozen Four and third time getting to the Frozen Four in the past decade.

  • Sophom*ore Lane Hutson, a two-time finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, leads all NCAA defensem*n in points per game (1.32), is tied for first among that group in total points (49) and is second among the nation's blue liners with 15 goals.
  • He is the first defenseman since Western Michigan's Mike Posma (1986-88) to record 10 goals and 30 assists in his first two collegiate seasons, and needs just three points to reach 100 for his career.
  • Sophom*ore Ryan Greene has notched three goals and five assists over the past six games, including an unassisted goal in the win over RIT.
  • Graduate student Cade Webber, the Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman, enters Thursday as thesingle-season NCAA record holderfor blocked shots with 133 and counting, which has eclipsed the old record of 112.
  • Webber blocked six shots in the victory over Minnesota.
  • Sophom*ore Quinn Hutson enters Thursday having recorded a point in seven of his last nine games, including a first-period goal against the Gophers that sparked a Terrier rally.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU is 15-17-2 all-time against Denver, with the Pioneers winning the last meeting between the two schools, 4-3, on Oct. 27, 2017 at Agganis Arena.
  • The Terriers and Pioneers have met five times in the NCAA Tournament, with Denver winning three of those matchups.
