The group was the first selected since the maximum-age limit was lifted Dec. 31, 1993. Paul Willenbrink, former homeless center head, dies Paul Willenbrink, former director of the St.

Vincent dePaul Center for the homeless and founder of the St. Jude House for women alcoholics, died yesterday at Suburban Medical Center. He was 71. Willenbrink was director of St. Vincent dePaul, which also operates a large soup kitchen, for nearly eight years before stepping down in 1992.

He also had served on the board of directors of the Talbot House, a facility for recovering male alcoholics, since it opened in 1964. In 1986 he received a WLKY-32 Bell Award for outstanding community service and the Albert Schweitzer. Humanitarian Award. Willenbrink worked for 30 years at the old Sutcliffe where he was vice president and treasurer. In addition to his community service, Willenbrink taught music at Bizianes Music Mart on Bardstown Road and at Senior Citizens East.

He played in an all-harmonica band brother, the Rev. George Willenbrink; five stepchildren; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 512 Breckenridge Lane, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Road, from 7 to 9 p.m.

William Bennett Roach, former publisher of a Shelbyville newspaper and a former died reporter for The Courier nal, Thursday at Hospital in Shelbyville. He was 93. After working at The CourierJournal, Roach was named publisher of The Shelby News in 1941, which later merged with the Sentinel in Shelbyville. Roach was named president of the Kentucky Press Association in 1952 and served for a year. During his time in the newspaper for 26 years.

Willenbrink is survived by his wife, Bette; a son, James S. Willenbrink of Tallahassee, two daughters, Marilyn Krupp of Tallahassee and Marsha Bell; a business, Roach was a spokesman at the state and national level. He also wrote a weekly column in The Shelby News called "Whood'a Thought It." Roach is survived by a daughter, Sally Bond Nicol of Shelbyville; a stepdaughter, Nancy Jo Stallard of Dyer, seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
